Film Updates April 16, 2003 Dearest devotees of SKIN DEEP, the movie: SKIN DEEP is moving along nicely towards completion. The picture edit is completed and the music has been composed, recorded and inserted into the film (see below for our newest team members). Sound editing is about 2/3 completed and we expect to do the sound mix sometime in May. We've also begun final lab work with one of our partners in Spain: Molinare. They have one of the best color timers in Europe, Pepe Cruz, and their experience with the equipment to digitally color correct and transfer our negative to 35mm film is extensive. We are currently digitizing all of our negative and should have the color correction done by the end of the month. Check out Molinare on the web. Because of the difficulties in getting replacement cost insurance for shipping our film negative from the US to Spain, it was recommended that we hand carry the film across the Atlantic. Sacha and I completed this task without incident (and at much less expense) on February 28. The experience was uneventful and we were given no trouble whatsoever at security or customs, despite the fact that it's possible to give someone a nasty film cut using the edge of the negative. NEW TEAM MEMBERS FOR SKIN DEEP Here are our newest collaborators on the film, both from the lovely Basque country in the North of Spain: Martin Guridi: Sound Designer and Editor. Martin is with a burgeoning company, Sonora Estudios in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. Bingen Mendizabal: Composer, musician. Bingen is one of the most renown film composers in all of Spain with numerous feature films to his credit. The score for SKIN DEEP is truly amazing, and it adds a level of artistry to the film that could not have been accomplished without his contribution. Check out some of his credits at IMBD Sacha and I will be going to the Cannes Film Festival in mid-May where we will be making connections to potential distributors and sales entities. We've already got a few meetings set up, and we will have trailers of the film available to potential buyers, along with our new poster. Our anticipated completion date for a 35mm print is sometime in late May or early June. Sincerely, |
