South Bay filmmakers Ken Karn and Sacha Parisot, along with their company Curve Of Happiness Partners, LLC, are proud to announce the completion of their debut feature film, SKIN DEEP.

SKIN DEEP is a racially-charged thriller set in the prosperous foothills of Silicon Valley. It will have its World Premiere screening on Thursday, June 19 as part of the feature film competition of the American Black Film Festival in Miami Beach, Florida (www.abff.com).

SKIN DEEP is based on a story by director, Sacha Parisot, and a screenplay co-written with producer, Ken Karn. The production was filmed entirely on location in Prunedale, California with post-production work completed with their Spanish co-producers in Madrid, San Sebastian and Vitoria, Spain. The film stars Steve White (Do The Right Thing), Debra Wilson (Mad TV), AJ Johnson (Baby Boy), Mailon Rivera (The Shield, Arli$$), and Kristen Shaw (The Contender).

SKIN DEEP is an attempt to portray a side of African American culture that has been ignored in films up until now. The characters are financially successful African-American professionals in an affluent setting, but their upper class status does not free them from the chains of racial paranoia and prejudice.

The film is the culmination of a desire on the part of the filmmakers to work together after meeting in the film program at De Anza College in the mid-1980's. Director and co-writer Sacha Parisot (a former computer engineer and technical writer) producer and co-writer Ken Karn (a former periodontist) and director of photography Aitor Mantxola (a graduate of the American Film Institute cinematography program) form the core of Curve Of Happiness Partners: a company named after their generous, but hard earned, abdominal profiles.

The original music score for SKIN DEEP was written by noted Basque composer Bingen Mendizabal, who has over 25 feature films to his credit. An original theme song for SKIN DEEP, "If The Devil Ain't Right" was written and performed by the famous blues artist, Otis Taylor.

SKIN DEEP has a running time of 90 minutes and is on 35mm film with DTS Digital Surround sound.
